$30 Incentive to shop in Crystal Lake

If Crystal Lake, IL is in your shopping path, check out this link for an incentive to shop there. You may even want to make a special trip. On Route 14 within a 1 mile section, there is a ToysRUs, Jewel, Hobby Lobby, Best Buy, Kohls, Target, Sams Club and others as well as restaurants - Walmart has moved to the corner of 31 and Rakow but they would still be included as a Crystal Lake retailer. The other thing I noticed was that the certificates offered are 1 per person - but not 1 per family, so stretch those holiday dollars even further and pick up one for you and drag hubby along so he can get one too. That means you'd have to spend $600 but that's probably not too hard to do between groceries, Christmas and other household shopping - you'd get $60 back. Shop early before they run out of certificates.

Thanksgiving Deals Around Town

Need to stock up on Thanksgiving foods? Here are some of the great deals around town.

At Jewel you can get $10 off your bird when you buy $25 in participating Kraft products. There are little signs on the shelves under the products but here's a short list:
Cool whip
Kraft chunk and shred cheese
Nabisco crackers
Kraft salad dressing
Stove Top
Philadelphia cream cheese (only $.99 through Sat the 22nd)

There are more products - check your flyer.

The cream cheese can also earn you some cash (well coupons) back. Buy 5 get $2.00 OYNO, 6 get $3.00 OYNO or 7 get $4.00 OYNO. Now this is one of those instances where there is a limit of 4 - so how do you get to your 5, 6, or 7 and still spend only $.99? Buy 4 regular and 1, 2, or 3 1/3 less fat and you will pay only $.99 for each. It works I tried it.

There is also a $7.00 off your turkey coupon in the Jewel flyer. You can combine this with the Kraft deal.

At Meijer, if you buy a Rival Roaster $39.99, you get a $20 turkey free, there is also another deal: Spend $20 in other products, get $9 off a hen or $15 off a tom. It says the deals can't be combined but I have read reports of people combining them. When you buy the roaster, you may just get a $10 coupon off a small kitchen appliance as well like R.N. did.

Color Wonder Explosion Art Sets at Walgreens

Crayola Color Wonder Explosion sets are on sale for $6.99 and Buy 2 get 1 Free ($13.98 for 3) They are normally $8.99 - $9.49 each. In the Walgreens Activity Book (see picture below - $.99 if you don't have one already), there is a coupon for $1 off. So you pay $10.98 for 3. Great for kids from about 3-9 with the holidays coming up. Didn't check to see when the sale ends. The coupons are good for several more months.

HOT DEAL - ENDS 11/22 BIC Soleil Razors Cheap or a Money Maker at Walgreens!

Just got back from Walgreens and had to share this. Today and tomorrow are "Double Dipping" days at Walgreens - this is the two days when the November Easy Saver and December Easy Saver overlap. (Happens each month). This is the deal I took advantage of:

BIC Soleil Razors are B1G1 (this is part of the December Easy Saver - the Walgreens at Binnie & Randall had the sign up. The Walgreens at Square Barn & Algonquin did not.)
In the November Easy Saver there is a coupon for $3 off each one you buy (you only need 1 of these coupons - the register will automatically take $3 off each one - even the "free" one)

So - for every 2 you buy, you will pay $6.99 and get $6.00 off - $.99 for 2!

But, as with all good deals - it gets better!

If you have Manufacturer coupons (found in the 11/2 SS) - it becomes a Money Maker. You can use those and get an additional $3 off for each coupon you have. - Remember you can't go negative and you have to have at least the same number of items as coupons. If you are using Manufacturer coupons, figure out the math before you get to the register - you don't want any surprises. I didn't on my first transaction and it cost me - I could have gotten $6 in free items! But they sent up the red flag when I went negative - new cashier. Oh well! Live and learn from my mistakes!

$7 off your Turkey coupon when you buy $30 - Jewel

In the first section of the Sunday tribune yesterday on page 8 (I think) there was this coupon. Combine this with the buy 10 General Mills items and get $15 back and a coupon for free milk for even more savings.

Jewel's ConAgra Sale

This is one of those great stock-up sales. There are many products included that aren't even listed in the ad. The deal is buy $20 get a $10 coupon back on your next order. You can roll these coupons. Remember, this means you can use them on your very next transaction. I have done up to 5 back-to-back. The prices (other than Orville Redenbacher which is buy 1 get 1 free) are working on the non-sale prices.

Here are some scenarios:

Buy 10 Swiss Miss Hot Cocoa (on sale 10/$10.00) = $10.18 - you will get a $10 coupon back. You can then turn around and use that to buy 10 more boxes and pay only $.18! or any of the following:

12 - 14.5 oz cans Hunts diced tomatoes - they end up around $12.51 I think. Use your $10 coupon and pay only $2.51 - You'll get another $10 coupon. This is working on all varieties of diced tomatoes.

3 - Wesson Oils - they are normally $6.99 on sale for $3.99 - total ends up around $12 - use the previously acquired $10 coupon and pay $2-ish and get another $10 coupon. This works with the regular vegetable oil. Didn't work for me with the Canola Oil - so I just had them cancel the transaction and got my $10 coupon back.

Here are some other options:

Pam cooking spray
Reddi Whip - normally 2/$6.50 on sale 2 $/4
Manwich
Hunt's Ketchup

I hope you're seeing the pattern here so I won't keep repeating it. Check your ad and stock up on what you need. Not everything is on sale but with the $10 coupon - it makes it a sale because you keep getting the $10 back. If you need to really watch your budget, keep your transaction (actual prices after Preferred Card) as close to $10 as possible

Time to stock up on chocolate chips

Tollhouse chocolate chips are on sale through tomorrow at Jewel for $1.67 a bag. These are the only kind I use in my chocolate chip cookies. Use the $1/2 blinkie coupon also at Jewel, buy in multiples of 2 (2, 4, 6,..., 68) and pay only $1.17 a bag! Limit 6 per transaction. I've been told that means 6 of each kind (semi-sweet, minis, chunk, butterscotch) I haven't actually tried that yet. I just stick to the multiple transaction style of getting what I want, but if you're adventurous, go for it!

Store Coupon Stacking at Meijer

You know those Catalina's you get from Meijer that say "$5 off your next order of $25" or "$3 off your next order of $15"? Did you know you can stack them? Today I had an order that totalled about $31. I had the following coupons:

$2 off $30 or more
$5 off $25 or more
$3 off $15 or more

I was able to use them ALL on the same order!

Have them scan the $2 off $30 or more first - you're still over $25, so then they can scan the $5 off $25 or more, and finally the $3 off $15 or more is scanned. You've saved $10 and used all 3 coupons in one transaction!

Another tip for using coupons at Meijer: If you have multiple Catalina's - don't use the self-check lanes. They have to approve each one at the self-check which ultimately slows you down and some of the cashiers tend to scrutinize. At the regular lanes, I sailed right through today with 3 separate back to back transactions. Each was over $25 and I had multiple $2 Catalina's so that I paid out of pocket less than $1 for each order. On the third order, I didn't have a $5 off $25 and the cashier scanned one for me! How cool is that? My cashier said she wanted to come shopping with me!

Michael's coupon

This one is all over the Internet on every site I follow - I even got an email from a friend. Sorry this is late, I 've been trying to do a little Christmas shopping today. In that same vein, this would be a great use for this coupon. Get something GREAT for someone you love (or even yourself) for half price! These coupons can even be used at JoAnn's.

Meijer Deals

Check out Cheapsk8 Mom's post for Meijer deals this week.

Jewel $15 off when you spend $30

Check your ad for a complete list of the sale items. My list only has those items that have matching coupons. This is a great sale and you can use the 3 -$5 Catalinas that print after you pay on your next order to generate another $15 - this is called rolling. Some people are reporting that getting to $30 on the non-sale price will generate the Catalina. I tried it last night and it did not work for me. So I am going back today to return my items and try again . . .

Remember to keep your orders in $30 increments. I have also heard that if you go up to $60, 6 - $5 Catalinas will print. I haven't tried it.

This is a a great time to roll those Catalinas and stock up on staples. The sale goes through Saturday the 8th.

No Longer Available - Victoria's Secret 2 Bras & 1 panty for $15.99 - Get TWO sweaters for $20 more

I guess Victoria's Secret got wise to the deal and made it so these codes do not work together anymore. It did work before I posted. This is one of those instances where you have to act fast! I hope some of you were able to take advantage of this one!

1. Find the Bras that are 2 for $40 (VS Cotton are 2/$40) and add 2 to your cart
2. Add a pair of panties (VS Cotton again) that are $7.50 (they have to be a plain color)
3. Use the following two codes at checkout:

*FA813789 for $10 off any bra

*25PTY for $25 off any two full priced bras and free cotton panty

4. Your total should come to $10 plus $5.99 shipping! I also had $1 for tax. So my total was actually $16.99. But that is pretty good for 2 bras and 1 panty!

You can do this with more expensive bras, your total will be just a little higher.

Check out Chaos in the Cupboard to find out how to get 2 sweaters for only $20 more!

Cheap cereal at Target

Select* Kellogg's cereal is on sale this week at Target for $2.75 a box. Now that's not a great deal but here is a $1 off coupon that will make it better. You can print 6 of these by hitting the back button on your browser. Now they are down to $1.75 - purchase 5 and you will get a $5 Target gift card - that makes them only $.75 a box. Now that's a good deal.

*Qualifying cereals are 16.3-oz. Frosted Mini Wheats Strawberry Delight, 16.9-oz. Frosted Flakes Gold, 17.5-oz. Smart Start, 16.5-oz. Cocoa Krispies and 12-oz. Special K with red berries.
